Video of the October Meeting

At our October chapter meeting we had a wonderful presentation on Morris Udall and the history of our Inn.

Now we have available a video of the meeting. To view the video on the website, go to this page.

You can also view a windows media version and a PDF of the PowerPoint presentation .

Please let us know if you would like a copy of the DVD version, which is higher quality but too large for web distribution.

If you have problems accessing these materials, please contact us.

Thank you Pupilage B

Chapter President Cary Sandman writes:

Thank you Pupilage B for the excellent presentation on merit selection, judicial elections and judicial independence. I think most of us believe that “warts and all” the merit selection system in Arizona has well served the public interest, and promotes judicial independence; leaving our judiciary free to decide cases impartially, without undue concern for the need to marshal political constituencies in support of their decisions.

Our next meeting will be Monday May 1. It will be our final meeting until next October. See you all then.

Reminders regarding April Meeting

Just a reminder – the deadline for RSVP for the April 4 meeting is tomorrow, Thursday at 5:00 p.m. And remember the meeting is Tuesday, not Monday.

We are looking forward to the presentation by none other than Bill Poorten’s Pupilage B. The Topic is “Judicial Independence – Judges for Sale or Democratic Accountability.” The presentation will touch on Arizona’s constitutional and statutory provisions for the selection and election of judges, institutional and decisional independence, accountability of the courts, and statutory and ethical considerations for campaign fund raising and judicial campaign speech.
